Gianmarco Veruggio

Gianmarco Veruggio is a roboticist at CNR-IEIIT in Genoa. In 1980 he received the degree in electronic engineering from Genoa University. In 1989 he founded the CNR-IAN Robotlab, which he headed until 2003. His researches focus on experimental robotics, and he led marine robotics campaigns in Antarctica and in the Arctic. In 2000 he founded the School of Robotics to promote this new science among young people and in society. In 2002 he proposed the concept of Roboethics. He is serving the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society as chair of the Technical Committee on Roboethics and as a Distinguished Lecturer. In 2009 he was presented with the title of Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
