Luigia Carlucci Aiello has a degree in Mathematics from the University of Pisa (1968).

She became a Researcher at IEI, the Institute of Information Processing of the Italian Research Council (CNR, Pisa) in 1971. She is now (and has been since 1982) a full Professor at “La Sapienza” University of Rome, currently teaching Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science in the Department of Informatics and Systems Engineering.

Since 2000, her main research interests have been Cognitive Robotics, AI techniques applied to Security and AI Planning.

Over the years, she has delivered several conferences and lectures in many universities and research centres, in Italy and abroad, where she has reported her research work. She has also been on the editorial boards of some international journals, including Applied Artificial Intelligence, Interactive Learning Environments and Journal of Universal Computer Science. She is in the Policy Committee of the Electronic Transactions on Artificial Intelligence journal.
