Francesca Ciccarelli is Principal Investigator at the European Institute of Oncology (Milan). She graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Bologna, obtained the PhD in Natural Science at the University of Heidelberg, and worked as research assistant in computational biology at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Germany.
Dr. Ciccarelli has an extensive expertise in comparative and evolutionary genomics and published more than 30 articles in international peer-reviewed scientific journals. Her lab applies cutting edge technologies to discover the genetic determinants of cancer, focusing on two main lines of investigation:
1- Cancer genome re-sequencing using next-gen technology to detect and measure genomic instability;
2- Systems biology of cancer genes.
